MODULAR INSTALLATION/DIN RAIL DIMMER
(LEADING EDGE CONTROL/PHASE CONTROL)

Modular installation dimmers for DIN rail are available with 1300 W/VA and 2000 W/VA. The devices are suitable for dimming of incandescent lamps, fluorescent lamps and low voltage halogen lamps (through transformer). Various devices can be connected on parallel, so the combined dimming of these devices is possible even when it is maintained from different phases (3-phases operation). The devices have front-accessable trimmers to set the reachable minimum and maximum level. They also have integrated filter against interferences at the mains.

Pushbutton dimmer with 1-button control 60 - 1300 W/VA + extra ON and OFF switch input.
The device is operated through 1-button: by pressing the button briefly it switches ON/OFF, by pressing the button longer it dimms UP and DOWN. The last brightness level is stored in the device at switch OFF and can be retrieved when the device is switched ON again. Variable buttons can be connected in parallel, the button connections are separated from the mains. Additional separated ON and OFF switch inputs are available. This additional function is necessary particularly for group-switching of various devices or for control through Bus-Systems and Building Control Systems.

The device has 2 kinds of operation, which can be used alternately or simultaniously.
1-Pushbutton Operation:
by pressing the button briefly it switches ON/OFF, by pressing the button longer it dimms alternately UP and DOWN. The last brightness level is stored in the device at switch OFF and can be retrieved when the device is switched ON again. Variable buttons can be connected in parallel, the button connections are separated from the mains.
2-Pushbutton Operation:
by pressing the button BRIGHTER briefly it switches ON, by pressing the button longer it dimms BRIGHTER up to maximum level.
by pressing the button DARKER briefly it switches OFF, by pressing the button longer it dimms DARKER down to minimum level.

KU35

The devices are leading edge phase control dimmers for incandescent lamps and LV-Halogen lamps with magnetic transformers. They are not usable with electronic transformers which are dimmable with trailing edge phase control dimmers. The devices are constructed for snap-on on DIN rails 35mm (DIN 46277). The output voltage can be controlled by potentiometer or external control voltage 0-10V. Up to 3 devices can be controlled by one potentiometer, these 3 devices can be on different phases (3-phase control).

Combined control of several devices: controlling several devices together is available through connection of terminals 6+7 of the devices. Only one device must have a potentiometer (or external control source), it becomes this way the master device.

IMPORTANT

Please never use device without correct circuit breaker! The maximum ambient temperature of 35 C has to be considered, the permitted load at higher temperatures goes down drastically. At 45 C it is only 70%, at 50 C it is 57% of the nominal load. Therefore several devices have to be mounted in a way that one device does not warm up another device and fans or other equipment has to be used for cooling rack cabinets. Mounting, wiring and service should only be done by qualified personnel

ADJUSTMENTS
The devices are factory-set for full dimming range with standard potentiometer 25k. If an external source is used to deliver the control voltage (e.g. pushbutton control NTxx or similar), an adjustment will be necessary. Also a different dimming range, e.g. for special needs, can be set as follows:

1.) Adjustment low level: set potentiometer or external control device to minimum level, then adjust with trimmer-potentiometer MIN to desired level.

2.) Adjustment high level: set potentiometer or external control device to maximum level, then adjust with trimmer-potentiometer MAX to desired level.

3.) There can be some slight influence between the two adjustments, if so, some little after- adjustment might be necessary. Both levels should never be set above maximum output or beyond minimum. If doing this, the adjustable range will be shrinked.
